The first Milam & Greene Co-Op starts now

Chapter content

For the very first time, we're opening a Collective cask from Milam & Greene - one of the most respected names in modern American whiskey.

Led by founder Marsha Milam, master blender Heather Greene, and master distiller Marlene Holmes, the team brings decades of expertise to every bottle.

Your bourbon was distilled in Bardstown, Kentucky, using a traditional mash bill of 70% corn, 22% malted rye, and 8% malted barley - then brought to Texas, where the Hill Country climate began shaping it into something truly distinctive.

Kentucky tradition. Texas character. One exceptional barrel.

What is
New make
Unaged bourbon - straight from the still and not yet touched by oak. It’s clear, high-proof, and bursting with warm corn sweetness and raw grain power.
What is
Fresh fill
Newly distilled bourbon poured into a new charred oak barrel to begin aging. Bright, high-proof, and brimming with the promise of vanilla, caramel, and time.
What is
Mash bill
The grain recipe used to make Bourbon. By law, it must be at least 51% corn - the source of its signature sweetness - balanced by rye or wheat for spice and malted barley for depth.
What is
Mash bill balance
The mash bill defines Bourbon’s character — more rye brings bold spice, more wheat adds softness and warmth. It’s the precise balance of grains that gives each Bourbon its soul.
What is
Barrel entry proof
The spirit’s strength when it hits the cask. Higher proof pulls more from the oak, lower proof brings a gentler touch. It shapes everything that follows.
Now
It’s time to taste!
You’ve met us, learned where your bourbon comes from, and picked up the basics. Now comes the best part - your first try.

Before we dive into your cask's story, take a moment to discover how nearly six years in oak - and the intensity of the Texas Hill Country - have shaped your bourbon.

From its beginnings in Bardstown to the personalized bottles that will carry your name, this is where your ownership journey begins.

Meet the home of your bourbon

Long before your name appears on the label, your bourbon begins its story in Bardstown, Kentucky - one of the most celebrated whiskey-making regions in the world.

Distilled from 70% corn, 22% malted rye, and 8% malted barley, it combines classic Bourbon richness with layers of grain-driven character and spice.

But the barrel's story doesn't end in Kentucky. In the Texas Hill Country, dramatic temperature swings push the whiskey deep into the oak, accelerating its interaction with the wood and building bold flavor along the way.

What did you taste?

Every new make tells a different story. What stood out to you in your first sip?

Keeper’s feedback:

What you're tasting is unmistakably Milam & Greene Bourbon - rich, mature, and shaped by nearly six years of patient maturation.

The traditional sweetness of corn is balanced by the spice of malted rye and the deeper grain character of malted barley. Time in oak brings structure and complexity, while the Texas Hill Country climate helps intensify the barrel's influence.

Whether you picked up caramel sweetness, warm spice, toasted oak, or roasted grain, you're experiencing the balance of Kentucky whiskey-making tradition and Milam & Greene’s award-winning blending expertise.

Now, your bourbon enters the next stage of its journey. As it spends its remaining time in oak, it will continue to deepen in character before returning as two personalized bottles carrying your name.

How your cask is developing

HIGH-RYE FOUNDATION
HIGH-RYE FOUNDATION

New Riff's signature high-rye mash bill is continuing to evolve inside the barrel. Bright spice is beginning to settle into notes of caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, and baking spice, creating the bold yet balanced profile New Riff is known for.

TIME AT WORK
TIME AT WORK

Every Kentucky season leaves its mark. As temperatures rise and fall, the whiskey expands deep into the oak before retreating again. That natural cycle builds complexity, gradually weaving together sweetness, spice, and oak into one seamless whiskey.

BOTTLED-IN-BOND IN THE MAKING
BOTTLED-IN-BOND IN THE MAKING

Patience is part of the process. Every additional month in the barrel brings more integration, richer texture, and greater balance—without sacrificing the vibrant rye character that makes this whiskey unmistakably New Riff.

CHARACTER TAKING SHAPE
CHARACTER TAKING SHAPE

This whiskey has entered one of its most rewarding stages. Time continues polishing its structure while preserving its lively personality. Every season in the barrel adds another layer of depth before the final pour.

Impressions after aging

Your New Riff Rye Whiskey is entering a beautiful stage of development. Time in oak has added richness, polish, and structure while allowing its signature rye spice to remain vibrant and expressive.

Sweet caramel and vanilla are becoming more integrated with toasted oak, peppery spice, and hints of baking spice. Rather than competing, the flavors are beginning to work together in perfect balance.

What started as a youthful, energetic whiskey is gradually becoming something deeper, more layered, and unmistakably New Riff.

What is
Flavor integration
When a spirit starts to mature, the flavors begin to blend smoothly. No harsh notes, no flavor dominating. That balance? It’s called integration.
What is
Tannin?
Tannins are natural compounds in oak. They add structure, a dry touch on the finish, and help round out sharp flavors over time.
What is
Barrel breathing
Barrels aren’t airtight. As temperatures change, the spirit expands into the wood and then pulls back out, drawing color and flavor in a cycle known as “barrel breathing.
What is
Flavor layering
The grain recipe sets the tone. More rye brings spice, while more corn adds sweetness. That balance defines the Bourbon’s core personality.
What is
Micro-shift
The spirit’s strength when it hits the cask. Higher proof pulls more from the oak, lower proof brings a gentler touch. It shapes everything that follows.
The patience of
Seven years
You won't see fireworks in month two—and honestly, not even in year two. But after seven years of quiet transformation, the real show is about to begin. Every subtle cue the spirit has picked up over these years is now converging, ready to define its grand finale. We've nurtured it this far, and now we approach crucial last year.
SEE WHY THE LITTLE THINGS MATTER

Why patience matters

Chapter content

Great whiskey rewards time The biggest changes rarely happen all at once. Each passing season softens sharp edges while preserving the bold personality that made the whiskey special from day one.

Inside your New Riff cask, oak is gradually adding richness and texture while the spirit develops greater balance and length. Every extra month helps bring the rye's natural spice and sweetness into closer harmony.

That's what makes mature rye so compelling—not less character, but better-integrated character.

What's standing out so far? What stuck with you in this chapter?

What part of your New Riff journey has surprised you most?

Keeper’s feedback:

This is the stage where everything starts to click. The blend is settling, aligning, and finding its rhythm in the cask. Changes are subtle, but each one moves the whiskey toward a more precise and intentional profile.

We’re right where we want to be, letting it come together on its own terms before the next step reveals what it’s capable of.

Proof in progress

Chapter content

Your Rye has aged beautifully. Now it’s time to talk strength. This is where we start thinking about how much power the final pour will pack.

Right now, your spirit is still at cask strength - untouched, uncut, and bold. From here, it’s up to your distillers to decide how (and if) they’ll proof it down.

What’s happening inside the barrel? The alcohol is slowly shifting, evaporating slightly, mingling deeper with the oak, and becoming more refined. You’re no longer just aging, you’re preparing for the finish line.

Even small shifts in humidity, can lower the spirit’s strength. That’s why the environment matters more than ever.

News from your distillers

People always ask why we don’t just bottle everything at cask strength. The truth? Not every whiskey benefits from staying that bold. At full proof, some notes can overpower others. Too much heat, not enough nuance. That’s where proofing comes in. A few drops of water can open up the spirit, mellow the sharp edges, and let hidden flavors shine through. It’s not about watering it down, it’s about letting the whiskey breathe and find balance.

What is
Proof?
A measure of alcohol strength. In the U.S., proof is twice the ABV (alcohol by volume). So 120 proof = 60% ABV.
What is
Proofing?
The process of adding water to lower alcohol content. It softens the burn and can open up flavors.
What is
The sweet spot?
The ideal strength where flavor, mouthfeel, and aroma come into perfect balance. Not too hot, not too soft - just right.
What is
Cask strength?
Whiskey straight from the barrel - no water added. Pure, high-proof, and full of character.
Why not
Always bottle at cask strengths?
Not every spirit shines at full power. Proofing helps control balance, mouthfeel, and drinkability.
What
Cask strength really means
It’s not just about high ABV. It’s how bold your whiskey feels, how intense the flavor hits, and how much of the barrel shows through.
WHAT ABOUT MY RYE

What cask strength really means to your Rye

Chapter content

You’ve tasted your Rye in its rawest form, as New Make. What comes next is a whole new beast: straight from the barrel, uncut, and matured. This is cask strength.

Every cask strength pour is different. The barrel, the climate, and the grain all play a role. That’s why this stage is key: we’re watching, measuring, and preparing to decide how strong your Rye should stay.

Border

What’s your style?

When it comes to whiskey strength, what do you usually go for?

Keeper’s feedback:

I think this version feels much more New Riff. Rather than focusing on Tennessee seasons or Whiskey JYPSI's modern approach, it reinforces the brand's identity around high-rye whiskey, Bottled-in-Bond craftsmanship, transparency, and patience, making the chapter feel unique to Cask #007 rather than a rewrite of Cask #005.
