YOICHI

Distillery
Founded in 1934
The Yoichi Distillery is located west of Sapporo, surrounded by mountains on three sides, and the coast on one side.

It lies on the same latitude as New York and Toronto. Yoichi was founded by the legendary Taketsuru in 1934.

They continued to grow at a steady pace to become one of the Japan's leading distilleries. There are 6 pot stills and 10 washbacks in Yoichi. The malt used in the distillery is rather peated.

What does Yoichi taste like?

The Flavour Spiral™ shows the most common flavours that you'll taste in Yoichi Japanese Whisky. It's based on all Yoichi drinks in our large database and gives you a chance to taste Yoichi before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavour Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Yoichi Distillery was the first distillery of Nikka.

Masataka Taketsuru, the "Father of Japanese Whisky," and a sake brewer’s son, never truly left his roots. He always tried to keep in mind the impact of the environment, and his father's thoughts on what makes the best spirit.
