Distilled in 1991 at Caol Ila, SMWS 53.111 is a formidable 15-year-old single cask expression aptly titled 'Smoke and Soot with Liquorice Root.' Bottled in 2007 at a natural 55.2% ABV, this Islay powerhouse offers a visceral journey into the distillery’s coastal DNA. Crafted from 100% malted barley and matured in a refill hogshead, it strikes a masterful balance between industrial grit and herbal sweetness. The palate is awash with medicinal peat, beach bonfire ash, and thick oils, giving way to a signature black liquorice depth.
