Good, but not $1,000 good

I have a bottle of the Old Rip Van Winkle (ORVW) as well as this 12 year. I liked this 12 year better, and it’s a good whiskey! I am sorry to say, in my opinion, and the opinion of my close friend and neighbor, similar to the ORVW, the flavor profile is not worth the $1,000. I plan to buy a bottle of Pappy and try it…

Notes of caramel and oak on the nose. Vanilla and caramel start the flavor parade. Mix in a little cinnamon with some orange zest in the finish. Great for special occasions. I’d drink it more often if it was more reasonably priced.
