Yamazaki's Peaty Symphony: A Smoky Marvel

The Yamazaki 'Islay Peated' Single Malt is a daring dance of smoke and elegance, part of the Tsukuriwake Selection 2024. Crafted with heavily peated barley from Islay, it defies Yamazaki's usual unpeated style. Yet, the distillery's pure water and unique climate ensure the smoke harmonizes with fruity and spicy notes. At 48% ABV, this whisky is a Japanese twist on peated tradition, offering a luminous gold hue, smoky aroma, and a palate of brown sugar, citrus, and a savory finish.

Yamazaki has been passed for generations. In 2006 the distillery switched to a small pot still in order to produce a variety of high quality straight malts, with a depth and richness that could withstand long periods of aging. Yamazaki single malts are legends. They are hard to find and not easy to buy when found. All of their Whiskies have won numerous prizes.

Nose / Aroma / Smell

Gently smoky, yet highly aromatic with campfire smoke, sea spray, sweet biscuit, and ripe green apple.

Flavor / Taste / Palate

Smooth and sophisticated with maritime peat, brown sugar, honeyed malt, and citrus notes of bitter orange and grapefruit.

Finish

Long, warming, and savory with lingering sweet smoke, herbaceous notes, and a hint of spice.
