Orphan Barrel Whiskey distillery has a special mission: finding the rarest, the most exclusive, and the ritziest barrels of Whiskey around that have been forgotten. They then lock the Spirits into their bottles and offer limited-edition first-class potions for us to lose our collective minds. It's a Diageo endeavor and they found some fantastic ultra-fancy Whiskeys since they started the project in 2013.
Orphan Barrel Copper Tongue 16 Year Old Bourbon blends two 16YO Bourbons that were distilled and aged at Cascade Hollow Distilling Co. (the home of George Dickel Whiskey, in case you forgot).
The barrels were discovered by Cascade Hollow’s Master Distiller Nicole Austin and the Whiskey actually lowered in proof during aging: it’s bottled at cask strength at an unusually low (for a Bourbon of this maturity) proof of 89.8. Whiskey enthusiasts would be willing to sell their soul to get their hands on any Orphan Barrel release but this one is especially tempting for those who enjoy a lower proof without sacrificing the flavor.
