Learn more >A high-corn new-make Whisky infused with grapefruit zest and jalapeño peppers.
Founded in 2010 and located in the historic Paymaster Building at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Kings County Distillery was New York’s first distillery since Prohibition. Some shops talk about “passion,” “innovation,” and “craft” processes, but these guys live and breathe it. Everything about them screams quality and simplicity. And all of their products are packaged in medicinal-style flasks with typewriter-written labels. Because, after all… you are buying their Bourbons, Whiskies, and Moonshine for the flavor, not the fancy packaging.
This Spirit is the kind of out-of-the-box Whisky innovation that can get you in a lot of trouble. Kings County Distillery took the same new-make Whisky that they normally put into barrels for aging and decided to make a spicy flavored Moonshine-like beverage that folks could swap out for Tequila… and them’s fight’in words.
Kings County Grapefruit-Jalapeño Flavored Whisky starts with their Bourbon base of 80% corn and 20% malted barley. They infuse it like a wet Gin with grapefruit zests and crushed jalapeño peppers and bottle it like Moonshine. We tried it out and it makes a darn good Margarita.
