Based high in Rocky Mountains of Colorado at an altitude of 9600 feet, Breckenridge Distillery calls themselves “The World’s Highest Distillery.” And yes, we are pretty sure that the irony is intended.
If you took a hard look at their impressive range of product offerings and more than 2 dozen awards — including winning “Distillery of the Year”… twice — you might think that they have been around a long time.
But Bryan Nolt founded the place in 2007. That makes their achievements even more impressive.

Breckenridge Distillery was founded by Dr-turned distiller Bryan Nolt. They won more than two dozen awards, including the "Distillery of the Year"" accolade — twice! Breckenridge is a force to be reckoned with. They opened their doors in 2008 which makes their achievements even more impressive.
If you took a hard look at their impressive range of product offerings and more than 2 dozen awards — including winning “Distillery of the Year”… twice — you might think that they have been around a long time. The core of their lineup is Whiskey, but they also serve up an impressive line of Vodkas, Gins, and Rum.
I would describe making Spirits at 9600 feet as epic. You face challenges in the high country that you wouldn't encounter anywhere else. But I feel like that struggle, extra work you put in every day to make it happen just makes the Spirits taste better.
My name is Bryan Nolt. I founded Breckinridge Distillery in 2008 and all I wanted to do was make great Whiskey.
When the idea of making Whiskey in the mountains occurred to me I found inspiration. Maybe I found a little bit of salvation in getting out of rat race coming to the high country and making Whiskey every day.
Once that happened I sacrificed everything else. I put every single resource I had into it.
We're best known for our Whiskeys. We make Bourbon here on a 40-foot continuous column still. We have 10,000 gallon fermenters and mash kettle. In our original production room we still make the dark arts malt Whiskey on the original copper pot still. We make a slew of other products in there including Rum and seasonal Brandies and we also make our Breckinridge Mountain Gin on a small Olympic still.
This distillery is something you can come experience and not just drink. You can come here watch us craft what you're drinking. You can dine and experience mountain hospitality. You can have a cocktail and then take a bottle home with you.
And when you're home and you need to relax that's when I would love for you to grab a bottle, pour yourself a drink and slip back into reminiscence to the good times you had right here at Breckenridge Distillery. In the end it's about passion and quality.
Our mission is to bring the mountains to you. People live in Breckenridge for the lifestyle and we've managed to put that in a bottle, combine it with hospitality and as a result Breckenridge Distillery has a sense of place like no other. We want to share the lifestyle of the high country with you and be your mountain spirit.
