A spiced Rum that infuses smoke over a mocha-Frappuccino flavor profile.
Stolen Spirits was born in a one-room flat in Aukland, New Zealand. The year was 2010, and Jamie Duff recruited his friend Roger Holmes to launch his dream. The brand has an attitude that resonates, so it was not long before they had developed a cult following in the land of the Kiwi and expanded into Australia. In 2015 the caught the attention of Marc Bushala of Liquid Asset Brands (founder of Angel’s Envy) and MAB Capital who have joined to bring their expanding line of seven Spirits to the world.
Stolen Smoked Rum was a game-changer for them. Sure, it’s "technically" a spiced Rum, but also not really. It’s more of a set of composed infusions. The process starts with a base of Trinidad Rum made from sugarcane and aged two years in ex-Whiskey casks. It’s then infused with Arabica coffee beans, fenugreek seeds from Morocco, and Madagascar vanilla beans. Finally, the Spirit is gently smoked with American hardwood and bottled at 42% ABV. What you get is delightful palate of flavors that interplay under a sweet, almost "coffeehouse in Paris" aroma. Try it as the base in an Old Fashioned or a Sazerac.
Smartass Corner:
The word "fenugreek" mean "Greek hay" and it’s used as a food green and as an herb in the semi-arid Mediterranean and North Africa. The seeds are ground into a spice. Sotolon is the natural aromatic compound in fenugreek that delivers an herbal-maple note.
