CaliFino Tequila Añejo is the full package — perfectly aged for three years in Jack Daniels barrels.

About eighty miles due east of Guadalajara is the town of Arandas in the Highlands (Los Altos) of Jalisco, Mexico. Don Jose Luna had been traveling back and forth for decades to visit family and friends there. He would bring back bottles of Tequila from craft producers in the region — a tradition picked up by the next generation. In 2014 the Luna family teamed up with family friend Phil Salvagio to bring the Tequila to a wider audience. That’s how the line of four premium CaliFino Tequilas was born.

CaliFino just does NOT cut corners — especially when it comes to barrel selection and taking the time to age their fine Tequilas properly.

CaliFino Tequila Añejo starts with all the right stuff. That means 100% Weber Blue Agave, slow roasting in stone ovens, and fermenting for three days using natural yeasts. But then this delectable Mexican dram is aged for three full years in Jack Daniels barrels. Frank Sinatra famously called Jack Daniels "Nectar of the Gods." He might have called CaliFino Tequila Añejo "Néctar de los Dioses."

Flavor / Taste / Palate
The palate opens with a full body and silky mouth-feel delivering notes of roasting herbs, agave, marzipan, and orange zest.

Finish
The finish is medium length, warm, and rich.

Surprisingly good. Body has agave, earthy with some zest. The beauty of this one is the oak on the finish. At first I didn’t know what to make of it. Then I had another anejo and it fell flat compared to this one. The age in whiskey barrels does it wonders. It would make a great old fashion.

As a bourbon drinker, I was intrigued by this tequila being aged in Jack Daniel's barrels. It did not disappoint! This is an easy-to-sip tequila, super-smooth, slightly sweet, with a great blend of caramel, oak and agave notes. Very good, would purchase again!
