Who knew that great literature could be this tasty?
Plantation Rum is owned by French Cognac producer Maison Ferrand, who control no less than a dozen major brands premium spirits and liqueurs. Sometimes that is an iffy proposition, but not in this case because the folks at Ferrand are all about quality … and you can taste it. Plantation Rum is their top shelf Rum label. And mighty good stuff it is, too. They offer a variety of Rums from the Caribbean. Depending on the plantation and the country of origin, the Rums can vary between soft and aromatic to light and elegant … each one showing the gentle, experienced influence of Maison Ferrand.
“The Pickwick Papers” was the first novel written by the famous author Charles Dickens. One of the minor characters in that book — a Reverend Stiggins — complimented and enjoyed “pineapple Rum.” Plantation Rum set out to recreate this eighteenth-century literary delicacy. To make their Plantation Stiggins' Fancy Dark Pineapple Rum they take their signature Plantation Dark Rum and infuse fresh, hand cut Victoria pineapple fruit for three months. Simultaneously, they infuse the cut pineapple rinds for three months in Plantation 3-star Rum. Those two infusions are then married in casks. The result is an award-winning specialty “cocktail in a bottle.”
I like the pineapple notes, but it’s not a great sipper. Is more suited as a mixer.
Surprisingly delicious rum
I really enjoy this rum. Probably one of tastiest rums I’ve had in a really long time. It’s not super in your face pineapple which makes it a well balanced rum to mix or sip straight. If you like pineapple, you’ve got to give this a shot. Ridiculously good.
Loved it, worked amazing as a floater on a mai tai, and sipping straight over ice belies it’s high abv. Great natural pineapple flavored dark rum.
A great rum, Love the pineapple taste!
Normally I don't like lighter, non-dark rums, but this one was surprisingly pleasant. More of a bite than your generic Malibu or Cpt. Morgan variety rum.
A very nice rum, It is not like most rums. If you like pineapple and you like rum, this is a rum for you.
This rum is smooth light and has the nice flavor of pineapple without being overpowering. For the price this is definitely worth buying or even trying atleast once.
Great sipping rum. Very smooth. Just enough pineapple in the beginning to steal you away to the Caribbean for a brief moment...
Smooth, light, pineapple but not over powering. Really nice rum.
It’s reminiscent of biting into a fresh pineapple. This rum makes my favorite Daiquiri.
One of the best rums for the price. Sweet and complex. This is an essential to any home bar.
Truly unique and worth trying. Tremendous flavor for enjoying by itself but especially in cocktails. Try making a sazerac with this stuff and have your mind blown.
This rum is smooth with a huge pineapple flavor. Love it.
I was impressed, this hit the advertised flavors spot on. A sweet, smooth rum that tastes great.
Probably the best sweet rum I've ever had. NO, definitely the best I've had.
Malibu, for men.
A delicious rum with a hint of pineapple. Well balanced and great to sip on the rocks or use in a tiki drink. This is not your typical pineapple flavored rum that tastes cheap and sweet. The pineapple is delicate and true.
My favorite Pineapple Rum of all time!
Strong ripe pineapple and pineapple rind flavor. Good for mixed drinks that require a heavy sweet taste (A Mai Tai would probably benefit from this). A little too sweet for my taste. Strong aroma. If you like stiff drinks, mix with a drop of lemon concentrate and club soda: takes some of the sweet away but keeps the pineapple aroma to it.
Amazing sipping rum.
Also makes high end mixed drinks like dark & stormies, daquari, and pina coladas.
Best flavor comes from sipping neat. Pineapple flavor has almost like a charred taste off a BBQ grill. Warm with a slighly spiced finish. A little harsher than I expected. Tried over ice and it lost the milder flavor spiral notes
I didn’t much that it mixed well with. Does not have a particularly fruity or pineapple flavor
Definitly a dessert rum, to finish off your meal. Tasting notes spot on although the banana is the fore front of the pallet. Very summery.
Tastes good. Pineapple flavor tastes like pineapple lifesavers.
Subtle pineapple taste. For a low calorie drink , I mixed Plantation Pineapple with La Croix coconut sparkling water for a fresh light drink . Also good with sprite
A little spicy and harsh upfront and not much taste of pineapple neat. I turned to my old friend Cranberry Juice for help. Buy the Oceanspray Cranberry the 100% cran juice kind. This is where the pineapple flavor really shines in this rum. It is a great refreshing drink and will be more so with Summer coming up. Porch Ponders anyone?
I was actually surprised by the subtle pineapple notes. You taste as well as smell them. It's a decent mixer but nice to sip as well.
Subtle pineapple flavour, great tasting.
I'm more of a sipping rum guy. This would be a good mixer but it's a little perfumey to drink neat or on tnt rocks.
The pineapple is very sublte on the finish and doesn't come across as a "flavored" rum
Smooth and delicious. From the reviews I was expecting WAY more pineapple... It's definitely there but it's not overpowering. Still prefer Zaya but this is good too.
Was smooth and a great taste for the price. The pineapple shines in this rum.
Delicious - pineapple flavour is surprisingly strong, but that doesn’t spoil the overall tasting experience.
It is a classic, infused, cane liqueur with a sweet & balanced pineapple finish
Fell in love with this rum. Good taste and was very smooth.
This wasn't as sweet or flavorful like the reviews mentioned. It's quite strong, very lite pineapple taste, I was disappointed because of that. I was hoping for more pronounced pineapple and tropical flavors.
Love this; drink it with a cube it's perfect
Nice initial taste and smell. A tad barkish but not overwhelming. The subtle Pineapple adds a nice twist. Definite must have in a collection.
Great Rum, strong pineapple flavor with minor notes of vanilla. Great over ice, or in a Piña Colada.
I didn't particularly like this one. You can absolutely taste the pineapple, but it didn't mesh well with the flavors of the rum. I even tried mixing it with coke, and what I got was pineapple flavored coke. Which just isn't a thing, for me.
Amazing Rum; straight or dressed up
Really unique flavor with the pineapple. Very fruity, almost a butterscotch taste to it. Smooth and I recommend using as an after dinner "dessert" to sip on the rocks, nothing else.
It wasn't too sweet like some of its liqueur counterparts. I mixed it with pure coconut water on the rocks and that was all that was necessary for the perfect Florida porch cocktail.
too sweet for me when i tried drinking it straight, very good on the rocks
Mixed with coke the pineapples sweetness really comes out. Not overly sweet just enough
Nice sipping run with fruity overtones.
Very flavorful rum. Crisp, a tantalizing hint f the pineapple as well as a clean rum taste. Not over powering. Worked well with cocnut milkand ice for a simple cocktail. Worked better still with a single cube of ice and nothing else. Wonderful sipping rum. I will be purchasing this one again.
Pretty sweet flavor, but not over the top
This is a very smooth and tasty Rum, Loved it!
Not bad, but there are other rums at its price point (Diplomatico, K & S 18 Year Old, El Dorado) that I rate as higher. Didn't get a hint of pineapple.
The taste was very pleasant to the palette.
Great taste, still has a little more sting than I like and isn't super smooth but over all a good rum.
Great rum! Just the right aroma & taste of pineapple. Excellent by itself or used in a cocktail.
Delicious by itself or in an old fashion. The pineapple is truly infused and tastes real, not some fake flavouring.
A really pleasant but vibrant pineapple aroma with a deep muscovado sugar flavor.
