Double barrel masterpiece from the Sound of Islay.

For their twenty-fourth barrel-hunting expedition, the trio of purveyors of fine Spirits sailed to Islay. Deer, Bear, and Moose visited Caol Ila and sniffed around their warehouse. They said you could taste history in the air before they jumped on barrels #150 and #151.

The delicious elixir within was conjured in May 2011, before it spent six years in a hogshead and another four years in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels. The dance of sweetness, saltiness, and smoke blending into a classic Caol Ila character convinced the seasoned palates of our beasts, and they decided to bottle both barrels as the latest DBM expression.

DBM #24 is exceptional in its own right, but there's an extra angle that makes it even more: it's charitable. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Movember movement that funds medical research and life-saving programs. Which means DBM #24 is Good in more than one sense.

Caol Ila is named after the body of water it sits on. Its name translates from Gaelic as "Strait of Islay."
Can Scotch go bad? Technically, an unopened bottle of Scotch can last forever. Air is the only true evil to Whisky; once the liquid is oxidized it is no longer immortal. After opening, as long as you store your Whisky in a cool, dry place, it will last another 5 years.
Scotland is home to more than 20 million casks of maturing Whisky. That’s four for every person living there. Nuts!
Single malt stands for around 10% of the Scotch market. This is a malt containing only one grain, legally required to be barley in Scotland, and made at a single distillery.

A blended Scotch is a combination of different malts from different distilleries. It is typically made from grain Whisky but does include malt Whisky to give it a more complex body.
90% of all Scotch Whisky released in the market is a blend. That’s a hell of a lot.
Is Scotch always Scottish? What do you think? Yes. The answer is yes.
