A fascinating liquid that scored 96% with Wine Enthusiast Magazine!
Originally a sugar plantation, the distillery sits on a 43 acre estate that grows its own sugarcane to extract first-pressed aromatic and flavourful sugarcane juice to distill pure Rhum from. This has become quite the focal point in the Rhum Agricole world with over 160,000 visitors making a pilgrimage there each year.

Clement Rhum is an award-winning Rhum Agricole that has spent four years maturing in virgin French Oak and in Bourbon barrels. Described as elegant, gentle and sophisticated, this VSOP Rhum is more like a single malt Whisky in composition than an aged Rum.

What does Clement VSOP Rhum taste like?

The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in Clement VSOP Rhum and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Rum is why we measure alcohol proof. To make sure Rum wasn’t watered down, it had to be ‘proven’ by soaking gunpowder with it. If it was ‘overproof’ (higher than 57.15 % vol.), then the gunpowder would ignite, if it wouldn’t, it was ‘underproof’.

Jason
Jason,
I agree with a lot of people that these French style rums are better in cocktails (like Tiki style especially) than standard rums as their "funkiness" shines past anything it's mixed with. On the flipside, they are a bit stranger to drink neat. Not bad but if you don't know it's going to be different going into it you're in for a surprise.

Bruce
Bruce,
What I enjoy most is that it has a hit of sweetness but not like brown sugar was dumped into the barrel. Very interesting and easy to sip. If I'm going to mix it I'll use something more generic

Matthew
Matthew,
Enjoyable, but you get smacked with the taste of just alcohol first.

Isaac
Isaac,
Very pleasant to drink: sweet and easy on the palate

Emily
Emily,
I’m not much of one for drinking rum alone, but I am a rum and coke girl and you can definitely taste this rum through the coke. I’m thoroughly enjoying this bottle.

John
John,
I feel this rum is more of a mixer than a sipper, it has a lot of character and is quite flavorful. it is very good.

Matthew
Matthew,
Clean and smooth

Michael
Michael,
Great rum with little after taste

Arturo
Arturo,
Pretty disappointing for the price. Sure, it is smooth but I expect anything above 20 USD to be smooth. It has nice vanilla, caramel and coconut aromas coming from the oak, but the fruity esters associated with good rum are just lacking, there also is no mouthfeel nor complexity. A subpar sipping rum, however, it makes great pina coladas or rum and coke.
