Bacardi is still family owned — seven generations of the Bacardi family have run the company since 1862. They are the largest privately held Spirits company in the world. Headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda, they are best known for their namesake White Puerto Rican Rum. But they are a worldwide producer of Spirits covering eery major category with annual sales nearing US $5 billion.
As famous as Bacardi is for their namesake White Rum, the locals in Puerto Rico know that the aged Rums are where the action is. Bacardi has two Spirits in their Gran Reserva line — the eight year-old "Ocho"and the ten year-old "Diez." Both are hugely popular in Puerto Rico and the locals serve up drams for special guests. The Diez is a center-cut Rum aged for a full ten years under the Caribbean sun, with rich notes of exotic fruits and vanilla exploding on the palate.
This is NOT a mixer Rum… it is an elegant, savoring sipper.
