Aviation Gin was born in
2006, after Seattle bartender,
Ryan Magarian, was gifted a bottle of botanical infused Spirit by a friend from
Portland, Oregon.
Ryan sought out the makers,
House Spirits Distillery, and there began a journey between distiller and bartender to create something unique, with a true taste of the
Pacific Northwest.
Aviation Gin takes its name from the classic
Aviation cocktail. It's distilled in Portland, by
Lee Medoff and
Christian Krogstad, who teamed up with the Seattle mixologist to produce this new style of Gin.
Aviation is a departure from the classic, juniper-heavy London Dry style of Gin, and instead has a more
balanced botanical profile, featuring lavender, sarsaparilla and anise seed; and a sweetness which complements its name-sake cocktail perfectly.
