Unique Cognac-inspired Rhum blend

The paradise on Earth some call Mauritius is home to six Rum makers and is one of the few realms that still offers the entire array of styles: traditional, agricole, light, dark, spiced, et cetera. With Turquoise Bay Amber Rum, the creators have distilled the essence of the terroir: sweetness and spiciness in a wonderful tropical dance that evokes images of palms, sand and sunsets.

It’s a unique and unusual expression starting off as a traditional Rum, made from molasses. But that’s where its traditionality ends. The Spirit is joined by a dash of Rhum Agricole that comes from freshly squeezed sugar cane juice, the Caribbean way. The invigorated amber blend is then finished in ex-Cognac barrels, adding sophistication and subtlety. An extremely sumptuous expression from Isle of Moris, perfect for summer afternoons, evenings and nights.

A little bit of etymology; nobody really knows where the word Rum comes from. Most popular suggestions are: Rum (the Romani word for potent), Rumbullion (an uproar), Saccharum (sugar in Latin), Rummer (a Dutch drinking glass).

Aaron
Aaron,
A decent Rum for a reasonable price, better than expected

Jill
Jill,
Worst rum I’ve ever had. I typically drink rum on ice but not this rum! Added a little water—nope. Added some coke—nope. Finally told myself life is too short to drink this crap. Poured it down the sink

Mike
Mike,
Really like this rum. Good balance and not too sweet. A good sipping rum!

Martin
Martin,
An excellent rum. Drank straight with just a slice of lime

Mike

This run is awesome! Love the taste and aftertaste. Very smooth sipping rum. Highly recommended!

Antti
Antti,
It is an outstanding, balanced, Dark Rum with a delicate birth; while a rich & spicy life that evolves into a long & tropical death with mocha coffee, smoky, ginger & floral notes.

Rebekah
Rebekah,
Very good. My 2nd favorite from the tasting box

Roy
Roy,
Really good. Very easy to drink with just a little bite at the end. No heavy caramel taste either. I think I will need another bottle to evaluate further :)

Deja
Deja,
Pretty tasty and smooth.

Karl
Karl,
Didn’t get it, got a Gin instead. Since I have it, am keeping the Gin, but would like the Rum (on you since it was your mistake).

Nick
Nick,
First rum I’ve tasted, it’s incredible sweet after the initial spice. A great flavor with a moderate linger.

Paul
Paul,
Smooth and balanced, pretty light and not particularly complex. A little bite up front and on the finish, otherwise typical vanilla/Carmel/honey flavors

Elaine
Elaine,
A deep soft flavor of caramel, honey and tropical spices. Similar to the spiced rums of the islands.m I liked this rum in the glass, and a nice long pour on the rocks.
