SelvaRey means "Jungle King" in Spanish. Their website lists the founders as "three brothers and Bruno Mars." OK… you probably know who Bruno Mars is. The "three brothers" cryptically referenced are Seth and Marc Gold and their brother-in-law Robert Herzig. Seth had some success as a song writer — where he came to know Bruno Mars. Anyway… they all like Rum and decided to joint venture. Next thing you know — in the words of Bruno Mars — "Bang Bang Gorilla" a new Rum is born. And sure enough, their logo is the silhouette of a gorilla. But SelvaRey Rums ain’t just celebrity-endorsed marketing hype. They are premium Rums from the jungles of central Panama crafted by legendary Master Blender Francisco "Don Pancho" Fernandez. They currently have two varieties, a White Rum and the unique Chocolate Rum.

Nice sipping rum, but not as great as others. Was hoping for a more cocoa undertone, but didn't quite find it. Also lacked the buttery richness of some other rums I've tasted. The flavors on both end were very subtle.

A wonderful rum with a dark chocolate aftertaste. Not sweet. Not bitter. Almost darn near perfect. Sip it plain. Warm. Cold. Mix it in a coke. This is a go to for me now.

After reading the Flavor Profile, I was excited, Cocoa Flavor mm. The Rum does indeed have a Great Cocoa Flavor, but lacks a Rum Overtones. I would rate it higher as it is a Very Reasonably priced, although it lacks, like I said, a traditional rum flavor. I did mix it with a Peanut butter Wiskey, and it was good. Was hoping for a Reese's. Peanutbutter Cup Taste; only if the Flavor was more of a Dark Chocolate flavor. All in all, Good for the cost, and looking to pair it with other Flavors. It's a good relaxing drink over Rocks.

You get a hint of chocolate on the noes. On the plate it tastes like a typical gold rum with a little bit of chocolate. Unlike most flavored liquors this one is not any sweeter than an average rum.

It is a lovely rum, but the cocao is definite present in the tasting palate, so not your standard cocktail rum. It has a unique quality, still haven't yet found quite the right mixer for it. Nice for sipping though!

Not bad. Definitely taste the cacao, but not in an overpowering way. Drinkable on it's own, especially after dinner, also excellent mixed.

Okay, first of all, I'm a rum guy, and this is not your standard sipping rum, it's dessert. So let's get that out of the way. It's delicious. I could not believe there was a chocolate rum. Try mixing it with a raspberry brandy, yum!

SelvayRey Cacao Rum is absolutely phenomenal. It's perfect in every way and easily my most favorite liquor I've ever tasted and enjoyed. It's smooth beyond measure and the cacao not overbearing just perfect enough to soothe the soul. I've only enjoyed it neat or on the rocks, but its very enjoyable, tasty, fun, and huge party pleaser.

My first drink, all I could think of was a Yoohoo chocolate drink. I drank it with 1 ice cube, next will try neat. Not what I like in a rum. I do detect a bit of mint on the finish. This is not "bad" tasting, just not for me. I will have to figure out what to mix it with. Maybe iced decaf coffee??

Lemme start by saying wow....huuuge chocolate nose, smooooth chocolate pallet, not overwhelming at all tho..haven’t mixed with it yet only sipped straight on the rocks but I can only imagine all the mix possibilities...best rum I’ve had yet!!

Delicious! Tastes of unsweetened chocolate. As the bottle says, perfect for sipping straight. I however preferred to pair it with a cold brew coffee to quell the very slight burn on this very smooth rum.

This is an awesome sipper. If ever there was a chocolate for adults this would be it. It's not sweer. I love the aroma of chocolate and nutella. This was impressive.

Quite delicious. I found it was a high-quality substitute for Kahlua in many cocktails. Fine for drinking straight on the rocks or with a splash of soda. The cacao and rum heightened the flavor of each other, making this easily the best cacao I've tasted and a most interesting rum.
