Patrick Cooney knows Irish Spirits. He and his brother Nicholas purchased Gleeson — building the beverage-maker through organic growth and acquisitions to a nine-figure Irish giant. Patrick sold Gleeson in 2012 and has turned the family’s attention toward a new legacy — the Na Cuana beverage company and the Boann Distillery. It’s a true family business with his wife Marie, his daughters Sally-Anne and Celestine, and their sons Peter, Patrick, and James. Their brands include Adams Ciders, Boyne Brewhouse craft beer, Robert A. Murray Irish Cream Liqueurs, and The Whistler Irish Whiskies.
Boann Distillery loves to play around with wood combinations and finishes. The Whistler Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish Irish Whiskey starts with their core blend of Irish malt and grain Whiskies aged in ex-Bourbon casks. The married blend is then re-casked in Oloroso Sherry casks because flavor magic happens when you do that. The final Spirit is bottled up at a very pleasant 43% ABV.

Nose / Aroma / Smell
The aroma is fruit forward with hints of lemon cream, raspberry, and mango followed by touches of walnut and Grappa.
Flavor / Taste / Palate
The palate follows the nose with touches of plantain, coconut, bergamot, and pear becoming more clearly defined along with a nice Snickers bar note.
Finish
The finish is sweet and a bit dry.
