Any distiller will tell you they have to pay a special, more metaphysical tax—either a share of the cask to angels or a cut to the devil. Sometimes, though, the juice disappears due to a dog! Not the fluffy one, but a clever device used by unsavory characters who wish to siphon off Whisky straight from the barrel.
The Balvenie 42 Year Old The Tale Of The Dog celebrates their coppersmith Dennis Mcbain, who was told to hammer down a “dog” when he was a wee apprentice—honoring the people who co-create The Balvenie marvels.
The Scotch in question is a coveted treasure from two hand-picked casks put to rest in 1974 and 1978 (so from when distillery workers still received drams at work) and a mouthwatering, smooth, and complex treat for any Scotch collector/connoisseur.
