Tanduay’s best white Rum infused with clean coconut flavor for a cocktail-making must-have.
The original distillery that would become Tanduay was founded in Hagonoy, Philippines, in 1854. Let’s just say that record-keeping in the Philippines was problematic at the time. But we do know that there was a series of mergers and acquisitions and primary distillation was moved to Manila in the early 1900s and the grandchildren of the original known managers reacquired the distillery and brand through their Elizalde & Company, Inc. The business continued to flourish, becoming a beloved producer of Rums and other Spirits in the Philippines. The mammoth LT Group purchased the entire operation in 1988, which still produces some of the most popular Spirits in Southeast Asia.
Boracay Coconut is the second in Tanduay’s line of flavored Rum sippers. Coconut is one of the most popular flavorings for Rum for good reason — it’s delicious. Heck, coconut Rum is the basis for the Piña Colada, and we definitely recommend that here. And in the Caribbean one of the most popular drinks these days in the Coconut Mojito. Sure… this is a nice, smooth, easy-sipping Spirit on its own. But we love how this plays nice with others and it arrives just in time to savor the Summer cocktail season so get to it.
Smartass Corner:
Boracay Island is a small resort island in the middle of the Philippines with clear tropical waters, white sand beaches, and a popular coral reef. Naming a line of Rum beverages after this idyllic location seems right.
