Santiago Matatlán. Oaxaca, Mexico. You know where this is headed.
Straight into the heart of the Mezcal capital of the world, of course. It's among those mystical rolling hills that Rosaluna Mezcal began its journey ― and it's where it travels from today. It's there that the delicious Mexican Spirit is crafted with 3 simple ingredients: agaves, water, and plenty of love. All-natural and hand-made, the brand is the brainchild of a young indie team of 4 Americans. They reached out to JJ and Frida Méndez León Jiménez, siblings from Oaxaca, Mexico. With 6 generations of Mezcal-making in the family, the Spirit practically runs in their veins. Nothing could go wrong!
And nothing did. The duo grows, farms, ferments, and distills the Spirit right there in the heart of Oaxaca, planting and tending to the baby agaves that take 8 years to fully mature. After the harvest, they are roasted in the ground, milled, fermented, and double distilled. The finished Mezcal is bright and fruity with that signature earthiness and touch of smoke that makes it such a delight. They say it's equally suited for the curious and experienced, a perfect companion for dancing and dining. The sensible thing to do is grab a bottle for each scenario.
