Conceived in a sauna, born of Finnish rye.

The idea for Kyrö Distillery Company came about when a bunch of friends were hanging in the sauna and sipping on Rye ― which is undoubtedly how many great stories start in Finland. The beverage on hand probably had something to do with the distillery focusing on rye Spirit exclusively. After a little bit of tinkering and distilling at home, they found an old dairy where their very own stills started running in 2014. With their maturing Whisky safely tucked away, they turned to Gin in the meantime. The first award came practically instantly and their stock was sold out in a matter of days.

While the Gin proved to be a massive success that spawned many different variants, 2020 finally marked the year when Kyrö Malt Rye Whisky was ready to be added to the core range. 100% Finnish wholegrain rye, double pot-distilled, and aged in new American oak, the Whisky is no slouch either and already has that San Francisco Gold to prove it. Vanilla, earthiness, dried fruit, rye bread, plenty of spice... The Finns sure know how to craft a proper Rye!

Nose / Aroma / Smell
The nose has aromas of vanilla, caramel, dried fruit, stone fruit, and a rye earthiness.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
It's sweet on the palate with notes of toasted rye bread, honey, and wild berries.

Finish
The finish is spicy with pepper, as well as lingering coffee and caramel notes.
