The Knappogue castle in Ireland has been around since the 15th century. In 1966, Mark Edwin Andrews from Texas bought its ruins and restored it with his architect wife. Then, Mark started buying barrels of fine Whiskey from all around the country, maturing them even further, bottling them under the castle’s name. his last release was a 1951 vintage, matured for 36 years, which hardcore Whiskey aficionados consider a holy grail of Irish Whiskey. Now, his son, Mark Andrews III, is a knighted Whiskey maker, offering us lavish limited releases.

The Knappogue Castle 21 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey is an artful blend of two single malts. They were both created in copper pot stills and matured in ex-Bourbon casks – one for 23 years (1994) and the other for 21 years (1996). This 92 Proof Spirit brings fruity aromas of vast orchards, an oaky background and a complex malty-rich palate. It’s a lavish ode to Ireland and a highly anticipated, very limited release (only 1,400 bottles available): A truly aristocratic Whiskey.
