A bright and fresh new American Gin born in the Wind Country of California.
The Ginny behind Ginny’s Gin is Ginny Sweeney Graham-Smith. Ginny traveled the world before settling down and marrying her Wine-making husband in Napa Valley. But soon she got the itch to do something more, and set out with some friends — Rob, Amy, and Jeff — to craft a Gin influenced by the California Wine Country. They currently use local Santa Rosa distiller Hecka Goods in nearby Sonoma Valley for production and are making a splash in the craft Spirits marketplace. Cheers to them!
Ginny’s Gin has a base of both grape and local grains — reflecting the rich agricultural community of the region. They use a complex botanical mix that quite naturally begins with hand-milled juniper macerated i the grape Eau de Vie. The rest of the mix includes coriander, lemon peel, lemongrass, sagebrush, angelica root, orris root, licorice root, cubeb berries, and grains of paradise which are vapor infused. And this lovely little Gin is bottled at a near perfect 45% ABV — meaning that it shines in all the classic Gin cocktails you love. And they bottle it cleverly in Wine bottles, which makes it all the more fun.
Smartass Corner:
Cubeb is sometimes called "tailed pepper" or "Java pepper." It’s native to Indonesia and looks like a black peppercorn with a stem. It’s been used medicinally, as a flavoring, and in essential oils for millennia. The flavor is described as a cross between allspice and black pepper.
