The top shelf Rum experience.
The history of the Dictador brand goes back to 1751 when Severo Arango y Ferro arrived in Cartagena, where his power would soon earn him the nickname of Dictador. Falling in love with Rum, Severo Arango y Ferro decided to become the most important trader of different exotic and high-quality Rums for the Cartagena area. More than a century later, in 1913, Don Julio Arango y Parra, a descendent of the Dictador established Destileria Colombiana, honoring his forefather with continued excellence in Rum production, as well as Gin.
Dictador is one of those elite brands, any true Rum aficionado should sample and experience. Only recently though, they’ve stepped away from blends and started developing their own private label – Dictador Rum. It was about time too, since their solo products are pure quality. It’s no wonder that their Spirits consistently win awards and the praise of Rum-lovers everywhere. Based in Cartagena on the Carribean coast, the combination of land and weather provides the perfect base for sugar cane growth and therefore Rum production.
Dictador XO Perpetual Colombian Solera System Rum is fearfully and wonderfully made. Crafted from the fermentation of virgin sugar cane honey and distilled partly in copper alembic and partly in steel continuous column, it’s aged in high-quality second-fill ex-Bourbon oak barrels using the solera method. The solera method is conceived by Dictador's master blender and alchemist, who uses his senses to create the most exquisite blend using only the finest barrels from each vintage year, approved for bottling under the highest quality control. The result is a deep mahogany dram with rich, decadent, complex notes of honey, dark chocolate, oak, vanilla, caramel, and dried fruits.
