Sensational Japanese Vodka from Nikka

When Nikka isn’t producing its fantastic Japanese Whisky, they stretch their imagination muscles by producing other Spirits, namely Gin and Vodka. They follow the John Anderson rule: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Which means they use the same legendary Coffey still they use for Whisky (designed by Aeneas Coffey and imported to Japan in the Sixties). Now, despite being mostly known for Whisky, Nikka doesn’t mess around with Vodka either. They distill corn and barely individually before they’re carefully blended by the pros and refined with charcoal. The process is complex and demands the best nerds you can find.

The result is breathtaking, though. Zesty, rich and sweet, with the fullness that can only come from the Coffey still. We’re not saying Nikka is giving the Russians a run for their money, but we’re definitely saying Nikka is giving the Russians a run for their money. Absolutely a kind of Vodka you sip neat.

Mykel
Mykel,
I love this vodka smooth strong with good flavor

Michael
Michael,
Crystal clear with thick legs. Very neutral on the nose. I love that there is no overwhelming astringency. It smells clean, but not like cleaning products, clean like it's gonna be really good. Somewhat disappointed after taking a sip. Not as creamy as I had hoped. Very neutral on the palate with a bit of lemon. Especially nice when enjoyed on the rocks. The lemon really comes out. The mouthfeel is thin, light, smooth and clean, not creamy, with a medium finish that stays longer than expected. There's some welcomed, pleasing heat on the end. Overall, I would say that this is a quality vodka. The price tag is pretty high. Worth a purchase... once. Would not buy again. There are just too many other quality vodkas that are $25-$30 less, but as far as vodka goes, it's really good. I'll save this one for drinking on the rocks with a citrus peel.

Michael
Michael,
This is an outstanding bottle of vodka. It's creamy and rich. sweet up front with a spicy finish. A great addition to your home bar, however, the price tag is a bit high. There are Russian bottles that are $20 less and equally as good

Nichole
Nichole,
Unfortunately I cannot rate this accurately because I never received it. It’s been 2.5 months now and still nothing. I’ve emailed back and forth with customer service but just keep getting the run around 😔

Michael
Michael,
creamy and rich. I like this bottle. This would be the vodka that vodka cynics would like.

Danny
Danny,
Just buy the damn thing.

Robert
Robert,
Love this Vodka! The flavor of this vodka was actually very pleasurable and made for some great drinks when you know the spirit won't be overpowered. Would highly recommend this to all people, especially those that may not be huge vodka fans.

Nicholas
Nicholas,
Good tasting vodka, did get some zest and sweetness (more than I prefer) but not much more flavor, which I suppose is the point of vodka. Price point is well worth it as it is every bit equal or better than similar price point brands...would buy again

Todd
Todd,
Has to be my premier favorite vodka. Is it worth the 20 some odd dollar's more than Sobieski well that is up to debate since more often than not you're mixing vodka. But this is much kinder than any other premier vodka.
