A premium Texas Bourbon blend that won Double Gold in 2021.

Once upon a time, the entrepreneur Marsha Milam visited a Kentucky warehouse and fell in love with the elusive art of Whiskey-making. She partnered with some of the world’s best Whiskey professionals: Whiskey expert and author Heather Greene, Whiskey veteran Marlene Holmes with 30 years of experience, and Master Brewer Jordan Osborne who brought 60 years of combined experience to the table. Impressive, right? They’re not about forming some exclusive Whiskey expert circle, though, as they always start making Whiskey with the consumer in mind. The team kickstarted their distilling operation in the Texas Hill Country and the rest is history. They have both smaller 300-gallon and a bigger 1,000-gallon copper-pot stills in the Texas Hill Country, plus classic column stills in Bardstown, Kentucky. They use their proprietary yeast and grain recipes and age their juice across 4 states to ensure a variety of flavors.

Milam & Greene Triple Cask Straight Bourbon Whiskey is their premium Texas Bourbon. It’s crafted from 70% Texas corn, 22% Pacific Northwest malted rye from Oregon & Washington, and 8% Wyoming barley. The proprietary yeast recipe comes from Kentucky and Texas. Three hand-picked Straight Bourbon Whiskies go into each bottle: 3-4YO Texas bourbon for that pop of spice, 3-5YO Kentucky Bourbon for flavors of vanilla and fruits, and a vintage Tennessee Bourbon for the structure and tannins.  The blend is then proofed to taste and bottled on site at 94 proof. This fantastic juice has won multiple medals, including Double Gold at the 2021 San Francisco International Spirits Competition. Plus, it was awarded 93 points and named one of “The Top 100 Spirits of 2020” by Wine Enthusiast

My favorite of thr Advent calendar so far.

This is a very smooth and soft bourbon. You taste the Vanilla on the nose and it's a little spicy but oh so good. This will be a regular for me.

Pleasant bourbon

Strong sharp sting at first sniff. Nice tingle on tongue. Crème brûlée? Lingering vanilla and faint hint of red fruits. Enjoyable.

Wonderful flavors

Huge fan of this bourbon and flavors! This is my 2nd product from Milam & Greene and i really love what they are doing. This one seems to be bringing 3 different ages together in a unique way and each age brings something special and different to the flavor.

Unique Blended Bourbon

I don't know how common this blending of Bourbons is, but find it a really enjoyable concept. Take aspects of Texas, Kentucky, and Tennessee Bourbons and then combine them into something that is very well rounded.

It was extremely pleasant, and might be my wife's #1 now from the 2024 Advent Calendar. It really opened up well with some water, and I could taste a bit more of the complexity from blending these casks and regional traditions.

I love it when these distillers get creative and really evolve their craft.

M&G is ok by me

The best thing about the calendar is it introduces me to bottles I otherwise might not try. Milam & Green 3x cask is a great example. I haven't explored blended bourbons much and I might take a flier on them in the future. This one was fine. I would consider it for a mixer but you can find better value with a BIB in the $20 range imo.
Golden amber color. The nose is the most floral of the calendar so far. I also picked up a slight spice essence and the floral spice carried over to the first sip as well.
The finish is REALLY long but not unpleasant. I got some plum and dark fruit that wasn't present on the pictogram. The initial mouth feel was creamy and warm.
I wouldn't add water to this one. I found it made the mouth feel and finish longer and oily. I didn't hate it, but it didn't enhance the dram imo. Jake mentioned a licorice influence and I agree. It was the missing flavor I couldn't place after I added water.
It did not, nor should it, impact your review of day 11, but it is good to see diversity represented in the industry. I hope more female distillers are featured.
I gave this a 7. Chin chin!
