All about Louis Royer

VS, VSOP, XO, right? Not here my friend! Louis Royer has a special card up its sleeve, a sledgehammer of a Cognac that is Louis Royer Force 53.

Fifty-three is the percentage of Alcohol in this extremely concentrated and aromatic Cognac, but it might as well be an homage to 1853 when Louis Royer started it all.

This gem has won top honors at just about every competition imaginable, and so did their core range and special expressions.

All about Louis Royer distillery

Louis Royer is situated in the town of Jarnac, overlooking the Charente River. One of the oldest Cognac companies in the World, known for their love for bees, hence their bee emblem.

Louis Royer was more than just a skilled cellar master, and it didn’t take him long to realize he would be much better off running his own business, rather than working for other Cognac houses.

He set up his first Cognac still in 1853 at the ripe old age of 25. Before that, he kept bees to produce his own honey—a hobby that he maintained for his entire life.

The logo of the Louis Royer Cognac remained a gold and blue honey bee to this day.

In 2013, Louis Royer Cognac developed a state-of-the-art bottling facility, increasing production by 100%. And, while they are currently responsible for over 80 employees, the traditional methods of Cognac production have not been forgotten.

Working with all 6 of the appellation areas, the rise of his empire was bound to happen using the skills he acquired as a cellar master.

Today the fifth generation of the family runs the business and it remains just as Louis had imagined it; bringing different appellations to people from everywhere and showing them a different kind of Cognac.

Louis Royer Cognac produces a core range of fine Cognacs—from VS through their very special 38 Years Grand Champaign, and a few special releases that were evidently distilled by Pterodactyls during the Jurassic Epoch.

Well, not quite that long ago, but you get the point. These guys have been making some of the finest Cognacs in the world in strictly limited production since the Spring of Nations. They do one thing, and they do it very well.
