Dissatisfied with the fate of post-prohibition Whiskey and Bourbon in the USA, the Knob Creek distillery was founded with the purpose of restoring the former glory of what the US Congress deemed “America’s native spirit”. And the founder of Knob Creek was no other than Jim Beam’s grandson, the legendary Booker Noe. He joined the family business in the 1950s and went on to establish Knob Creek (named after a stream that flows past Abraham Lincoln’s childhood home in Kentucky), the award-winning distillery known for its strong, flavorful small batch Bourbon.
The company’s rigorous standards that gave reputation to their Bourbon now shine through once again, in their Straight Rye. Bottled at 100 proof, this pre-prohibition style blend of grains tastes like Rye was supposed to taste. It’s aged in the deepest charred barrels, with fruity sweetness contrasted by a slight bitterness. It’s a perfect fit for Manhattans or and Old Fashioned, but also exquisite on its own, with its old school apothecary-like bottle being a perfect fit for your home bar too.
Smartass corner:
Straight Bourbon or Rye means that the Whiskey has been aged for at least 2 years and has no added artificial flavorings or colorings.
The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in Knob Creek Straight Rye and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.
We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.
Very rye spice forward in the nose and on the palate. Good burn too. Very solid rye with the quality you’d expect from Knob Creek
Scott,
Sj Likes it a lot.
Erik,
Everyday thing
Mike,
One of my favorite rye at any price point. mild, but bold. amazing value!
Kelly,
Good overall bourbon with a strong rye flavor. Best with a splash of water or a small amount of ice to cut it just a touch. Mixes great as an old fashioned. Enjoy this every time I have it.
Eduardo,
A bit punchy with alcohol
Thomas,
Very smooth. Great spice level & price point. One of my new favorites for old fashioned's & lion's tail.
Jay,
Best Rye I've ever had. It is my go to now...
Mike,
Rye spice but finish is a bit off. Not enough traditional bourbon flavors. A bit bitter on the finish.
Chris,
Sweet, spicy nose with a little undertone of leather. Deep amber color. Soft mouthfeel, with vanilla, caramel, hay and a lot of spice (and burn). Lingering warmth.
David,
Too spicy for my liking
Chad,
Harsh
Corey,
Great inexpensive Rye that can still be sipped neat.
Rob,
My go-to rye that’s as good as it is readily available.
Andy,
Still a newbie but I like this a lot. It has a wheat smell. It is very smooth in the mouth with a spicy, nutty taste. It also has a cereal taste with a spicy finish. I was able to pick more things out of this than my other whiskey's so far
guest,
Loved it!!
Eron,

Michael,
vanilla, cinnamon, rye. Pretty good on the rocks
Shawn,
High proof but smooth with all the spicey rye goodness you would expect. And a nice touch of vanilla and baking spices on the finish.

Very nice taste.
Zane,
Knob Creek can do no wrong in my book. This rye is great. Soft on the nose, spicy up front, and has a beautiful finish. Love it!
Mike,
Not a huge Rye fan when neat, but this is a very good one in cocktails.
Sean,
I find this a good mixer, adds good flavor without overpowering, but not something I'd pour in my tin cup and sip on.
Nick,
Solid affordable Rye, gets the job done for cocktails, neat, or with a rock.
Laura,
Knob Creek, in general, is our go-to "out at a place that doesn't have a lot of good choices but has this" drinking bourbon. The rye is about the same. Drinkable and not too expensive.
Derek,
Very nice, especially for the price!
Luis,
Solid rye option - nothing exceptional, but nothing disappointing.
Brad,
Top favorite of mine.
Mike,
Whoa nelly old fashioned
Joseph,
actually it is Cask strength Barreled in 2009 at 59.8%. good lasting heat that warms the pallet. Good barrel taste. good sitting sipping bourbon. really enjoy this one.
Andrew,
Pretty good, but I don't feel like it lived up to the hype.
