A clean, smooth, eighteen year old edition that belongs at the top of the list.

Johnnie Walker is one of the most recognized Whisky names in the World. The brand was established in 1860 by John “Johnnie” Walker, when he started blending Whiskies from his grocery shop in Ayrshire, Scotland. During the Victorian Era, success came when his son Alexander exported around the British Empire, establishing the Whisky early as one of the first truly global brands.

Today, Johnnie Walker’s famous square-shaped bottle — with the label set at a jaunty 24 degrees — is THE most popular blended Whisky in the world, selling more than 130 million bottles per year in nearly every country on the planet across a wide range of ages, special editions, and finishes.

Officially, Johnnie Walker 18 Year Old is the newest Scotch blend in Johnnie Walker’s extensive line-up. But it is substantially similar — nearly identical — in bland as the former super-premium Platinum Label edition. The main difference is that now all of the Whiskies included are guaranteed to be at least eighteen years old. And what a selection of Whiskies it is, including Cardhu, Glen Elgin, Auchroisk, and Blair Athol among eighteen in total. It rises to the second position — just behind the famous Blue Label — at the top of their list of offerings

Scotch Whisky is seldom aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation. In addition to that, Whisky is often matured or finished in various wine casks such as Sherry or Port.

Ratings & Reviews
Shamen
Shamen,
Love, love, love this blend. Great sipper

Michael
Michael,
Very smoky, not a huge fan of smoky whiskies. Smooth though.

Walter
Walter,
Very good, balance of sweet and strong at the end

guest
guest,
Worse than Red Label, worst Diageo whisky yet. Black is easy drinking, double black is lovely, this is goat piss. See other reviews on other sites.

Chris
Chris,
I ordered a bottle, it came, the tamper proof seal was broken. I contacted flaviar about it, they provided me a replacement bottle. Its seal is broken as well. A bottle where the seal is broken isn't safe to drink and might as well be thrown out. Is it asking too much to send a bottle that hasn't been opened already?

Lenny
Lenny,
Smoky.

Alan
Alan,
I had a feeling this would be a good one, but it was better than what I was expecting. For that price point, this bottle is a masterpiece at least as good as others at twice the price. Maybe it's just that blending gives you a broader canvas, but someone chose what to add, and they obviously know what they are doing.

Marcus
Marcus,
Hats off to the master blender, pretty good dram that even a single malt guy can appreciate.

guest,
Latest variant is quite smoky (I’d guess 8-10 ppm) and floral: lilacs, specifically. Loads of caramel & honey, and some fresh almond. At $110 a bottle, the value isn’t there; this tastes like a more refined Black Label. I’d like this more at half the price.

Christopher
Christopher,
Warm almond and caramel against a background of smoke for contrast, with a finish that goes on and on. Not top of the top, but an excellent whisky you can get most anywhere

Josh
Josh,
This may be the smoothest Scotch I have ever had the pleasure to drink. Check the flavor spiral, they’re all there! Excellent doesn’t begin to do this justice!

Frederick
Frederick,
Very smooth with a nice finish. Would drink this on any occasion and share with family and friends.

John
John,
Johnnie's gold standard. Great scotch to keep around for all occasions.

Angelo
Angelo,
I had been underestimating Johnnie Walker (foolishly I mistook the name to be American)! The first thing I notice about this expression is the buttery texture and flavor. It's very fruity and very smooth with a delightfully round finish. I would recommend this Scotch.

Steven
Steven,
The flavor is great and for the money it’s a great value

Michael
Michael,
Smooth, but wish it had more to it. Not sure if I would buy a bottle of this again.

Matthew
Matthew,
Very nice dram. It is very smooth and very little burn. The nose is very slight. The mouthfeel is soft and inviting, flavors really come through on the finish. Recommended.

Matt
Matt,
JW 18 is a strangely light, characterless whisky. It's extremely smooth, but almost to its own detriment. Extremely light nose, light, soft fruit on the palate, and then a watery non-existent finish. JW Gold is far richer and more complex for far less money. A rare JW miss.

Todd
Todd,
Sweet floral aroma with some vanilla and fruit, along with some brine. Taste is smooth, a hint of brine and a touch of vanilla and spice. A dash of water seems to bring out a peppery spice. Could certainly use a more oomph that a 46% ABV or so would give it - it's a bit weak overall. Still, it's very drinkable and enjoyable.

Michael
Michael,
I enjoy the JW 18 year old, I just wish it had a little more of a smokey flavor to it. A really nice drink though.

Jackie
Jackie,
Less peaty, more smokey, smooth.

Cami
Cami,
Love it

Christopher
Christopher,
Tasty adult beverage. Smooth, sweet, spicy and smokey. It is just great.

Taylor
Taylor,
Easily the smoothest scotch out of Johnnie walkers entire stock. Beats out blue label and for much cheaper. Used to be Johnnie walker platinum, but still great. I will always have this at my house.

Excellent dram. Smooth and balanced. Very drinkable neat. Nice complexity: not overpowering in any dimension. The price is pretty reasonable, too.

Jim,
What a treat! Caramel, Chocolate, slightly smokey and smooth as silk. One of my new favorites! A perfect 10! I can't get the rating bar to work but 10 out of 10 is my rating.
