All about Spring44
Spring44 is inspired by a natural spring located on a 10,000 Mountain in Colorado’s Buckhorn Canyon. surrounded by 160,000 acres of National Forest, the facility is in an extremely remote location, only accessible by an 11-mile dirt road, with a 2.5-mile jeep trail climbing 2,000 feet of elevation.
In 1969, Don Lindauer purchased this land in an extremely remote area in the northern Colorado Rocky Mountains. The company was founded by his son Jeff Lindauer, and his friends Jeff McPhie, and Russ Wall in 2008, after observing a special ritual of drinking from the natural spring.
Inspired by the crisp clarity of the water, the idea of using this high-quality H20 for craft Spirits was born. There are currently 6 drinks in Spring44’s core lineup: A Vodka and Honey Vodka, 3 Gin’s including a mountain Gin and an Old Tom Gin, and a Fortify Bitter Liqueur rich with notes of tart cherry and orange zest.

Don’s son, Jeff, now the proprietor of Spring 44, has been drinking from the spring since he was a child, but it wasn’t until 2008 that he thought about making Spirits with the natural resources close by. So how important is water to distilling? Well, very, as it turns out. If the pH levels aren’t right, the Spirit will be ruined.
Many spirits use purified water, which means a lot of the minerals are stripped out to create a neutral pH level. Spring 44 water is naturally pH neutral, and the company’s owners firmly believe that as water makes up 60% of your Spirit, it should only ever be of the highest quality.
