The world's first coconut-infused Tequila was born in 2012.

The year 1800 is an important one in the history book of Tequila. This is when Tequila was first successfully aged in wood – and nothing was ever the same again. But even before that, in 1758, Jose Antonio Cuervo of Jalisco, Mexico, was the first one to obtain a license for Tequila making. Now, the Jose Cuervo brand stayed in family hands through marriages and inheritance until today when it's distributed by Proximo Spirits, owned by the Beckmann family. It just so happens that 1800 Tequila is part of the same family. Launched in 1975, 1800 Tequila is a premium brand of Tequila – you know, the kind that can (Or even should?) be enjoyed neat like the finest Whisky. Their drams have garnered the most prestigious international awards.

Besides making classic and timeless premium Tequilas, their range also offers a more unconventional, but just as exquisite expression. First launched in 2012, 1800 Coconut Tequila is the world’s first coconut-infused Tequila. Starting with 1800 Silver Tequila, a special blend of white Tequilas made from 100% Weber Blue agave, it’s infused with natural, ripe coconut flavor. Nothing artificial and the coconut is not too in-your-face as the slightly sweet tropical taste doesn’t dominate, but just lets you know it’s there to spice things up a bit. Smooth and silky, you’ll get the most out of it chilled or even mixed with some pineapple juice.

Matthew
Matthew,
1800 on its own is a great tequila for margaritas, but Coconut tastes perfect as a stand-alone drink with a lime wedge.

guest,
I don’t normally like straight tequila but the coconut taste makes this easy to take as shots. Great party drink that most people can shot easily.
