The third Rye masterpiece.
WhistlePig is shorthand for innovation, pushing forward and upgrading. It’s also an awesome name and a fun image to have in one’s mind. The story started in 2007 when the founding crew bought a farm in Vermont. They teamed up with Master Distiller Dave Pickerell and discovered a stock of a decade-old Canadian Whiskey. They finished and bottled it at the farm and wrote the first chapter in their Whiskey-making tale. WhistlePig’s principle is taking old school approaches, adapting them to new ways, and looking for the best methods to create booze. Surrounded by goats, sheep, horses, bees, and yes, pigs, wonderful expressions emerge from the farm. Their most famous one, the 10 Year Old even appeared in Breaking Bad.
Their third Farmstock Rye release is quite historical, since it's the first ever majority WhistlePig Whiskey. While the previous two iterations came from Indiana or Alberta, Number 003 is mostly a Vermonter with 52% 3YO WhistlePig Rye. Other parts of the blend are 6YO Whiskey (31%) and a 10YO from Alberta (17%). Farmstock III is a Triple Terroir Whiskey, which means it comes from WhistlePig rye grain and local water source, and it's aged in custom-made Vermont White oak barrels. The Spirit is aromatic, oaky and warm, and it's really a no-brainer why WhistlePig is currently the most awarded creator of Rye Whiskeys.
