WhistlePig Boss Hog Vth Edition: The Spirit of Mauve

A truly special and limited Rye dram with a wonderful apple influence.

In 2007, aspiring Whiskey-maker Raj Bhakta bought the farm — he actually purchased a plot of land in Vermont lovingly named Whistle Pig Farm. He teamed up with master distiller Dave Pickerell — formerly of Maker’s Mark — to bring genuine Rye Whiskey back to the forefront of American Whiskeys. It took a lot of time, patience, experimentation, and reinvestment, but they have grown to produce five award-winning core products and have experimented with a variety of finished wood special edition Whiskeys too.

The Whistle Pig Distillery actually has … ahem, "celebrity" pet pig named Mauve. Calvados is an aged Brandy made from Apple Eau de Vie. WhistlePig The Boss Hog V is the fifth edition of the a special Rye Whiskey — this time a thirteen year-old finished in Calvados casks. And the result is truly exceptional in a spicy American Whiskey with a decidedly apple influence bottled at cask strength of 58.4% ABV. Even the flask-shaped bottle is special with pewter stopper.

We love the humorous bent, but this is a darn good dram. This one’s special folks.
