Twice-aged Bourbon mash bill libation
Based in the Holy City of Charleston, South Carolina, the Virgil Kaine distillery has a holy mission: create the best damn Whiskey around. Now, that’s a pretty high calling, but the founders, David Szlam and Ryan Meany, come from the culinary world. Their mad skills in finding the superb flavor are quite useful when your objective is concocting perfection. The chef mates blended, tinkered and experimented until they came up with explosive ideas that prove once again that amazing Spirits don’t need centuries of tradition and generations of secret recipes – what you need is guts and imagination.
Roundhouse Double Barrel Whisky is a limited release of innovation and experimentation. Like a roundhouse of a train yard lets your locomotive choose a new path, this enlightening Whiskey offers new flavor landscapes. When new American oak barrels were in short supply in 2014, the Virgin Kaine crew found casks that once held Bourbon. We know, an odd choice for an American Spirit, but with these cooks, we ain’t in Kansas anymore. When this traditional Bourbon mash bill potion spent a few years in those casks, new charred oak barrels became available. Roundhouse went through a second finishing and came out unmistakably “Kainesque” – flavorful and layered.
