Century-old Spirit of exploration trapped in ice.

Sir Ernest Shackleton was quite a crazy S.O.B. who led three British expeditions to the Antarctic. Since it's rather cold up there, he ordered 25 cases of fine Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky for the Nimrod expedition in 1907. Many of those cases were left there mostly intact for more than a century until 2010, when the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust discovered the icy treasure. The nerds were able to revive the lost formula like it was T-Rex DNA caught in amber. Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is based on the ancient Highlander, bringing back the flavors of the yesteryear.

Master Blender Richard Paterson wanted to capture both the century-old character of Scotch and the very essence of Ernest himself. The sweet and citrusy expression is more accessible than the previous premium releases Journey and Discovery, and is (naturally) best enjoyed on ice.
