One of the best Bourbons of the year, this time at cask strength.
Iron Smoke Distillery is a fairly new addition to the craft distilling community located in Upstate New York. In that part of the state they grow a lot of apples. So it is only natural that this local crop would have an impact on the spirits they produce. Currently, there are four products in the Iron Smoke family — Iron Smoke Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Iron Smoke Casket Strength, Rattlesnake Rosie's Apple Pie Whiskey and Rattlesnake Rosie’s Maple Bacon Whiskey.
One of the limited edition release is Iron Smoke CASKet Strength. It might be hard to think that you could improve on their Straight Bourbon — after all, it won Double Gold at the North American Bourbon & Whiskey Competition and was rated 95.5 in the 2018 edition of Jim Murray’s Whiskey Bible. But the good folks at Iron Smoke realized that if their award-wining Bourbon was great at 40% ABV, it would be even better at cask strength. And that’s exactly what they did. Iron Smoke Casket Strength is a powerhouse at 60% ABV (120 proof).
Smartass corner:
The company mascot has always been “Skully.” This powerful Bourbon at cask strength made the pun “CASKet Strength” irresistible.
