Bardstown Bourbon Company is an amazing thing to behold. It is a remarkable facility recently expanded to produce six million proof gallons of Spirit per year — making it one of the largest distilleries in the world. But it is also a gleaming, modern building with sharp edges, having some of the most advanced technology for great Whisky-making. Founded in 2013 with production hitting full stride in 2015, they are the central production for dozens of famous brands — including Jefferson’s, High West, James E. Pepper, and many more.
Hand Barrel is their barrel-to-bottle brand that offers a contemporary take on a centuries-old American tradition. It’s all about protecting the juice – each bottle is UV protected to stop any harmful light from compromising the liquid inside. The first small batch release is a high-rye Kentucky Bourbon. Based on a sweet mash bill of 64% corn, 24% rye, and 12% malted barley, this Bourbon was aged in char #4 American white oak barrels. This beauty is non-chill filtered and bottled at a decent 105 proof, bringing you flavors of caramel, cinnamon, apple, and buttered corn with the classic peppery spice finish.
