A unique bottling from the fall of 2008.

George Dickel immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1844 where he started a small retail business. Within a few years he started buying regional Whiskies wholesale and reselling them to bars and restaurants. In 1888, Dickel’s company bought out one of his suppliers — the Cascade Hollow Distillery. The dark days of Prohibition forced them to close things down. When Prohibition ended, the distillery was sold and the Bourbon renamed in honor of their founder. In 1956, the company returned to Tennessee, rebuilt the distillery, and adopted the Lincoln County process to become an official Tennessee Whisky. Today, the brand and distillery are owned by Diageo.

George Dickel Bottled in Bond Tennessee Whisky is a limited-edition offering that was yielded from barrels laid down during a single distilling season in the fall of 2008. Aged for 13 years, the Whiskey was bottled at 100 proof at peak maturity to capture unique, complex, and bold flavors of rich oak and tropical fruit. It’s perfect on the rocks or in classic cocktails like the Manhattan.

Unbalanced

Definitely could appreciate the pecan and maple flavors. However, for me the flavors were too harsh and sweet. I would describe it as a more sophisticated Southern Comfort flavor profile, which is not a drink that I like at all.

Sweet vanilla with baking spices in the nose; palate has ample vanilla, oak, smoke and complex savory notes. Finish has hot pepper with a lingering warmth.

Very sweet like a Kentucky bourbon with a great finish. Very easy over ice so be careful otherwise the bottle will be empty before you know it.
