Bunnahabhain Scotch Single Malt 18 Year is a Cinderella story if there ever was one … lightly peated and delicate, complex and refined, it is a must for every whisky-loving prince.

Bunnahabhain distillery was constructed in 1881 by the Greenlees brothers and first opened its doors in 1883. It's located on the island of Islay, with 11 employees and four massive stills – among the biggest in the industry, alongside Glenmorangie.

Cinderella is the Whisky itself. Bunnahabhain is rising from obscurity in a forgotten corner of Islay. And this little beauty cleans up good. Lightly peated, beautifully aged in sherry butts, and ready for her premiere at the ball in a glass slipper … or a glass snifter which would likely be a better choice. If you are a fan of Islay Whisky, this one is your ticket to happily-ever-after.

SmartAss Corner
In “Islay Gaelic,” Bunnahabhain means “mouth of the river.” And indeed, Bunnahabhain sits at the mouth of the Margadale River, whose source is a spring that provides the water for the Whisky.
