2 Gins and an enamel tumbler show what Barr Hill is all about.
Nestled in the hills of Caledonia County, Vermont, the Caledonia Distillery has roots going back to 1976 when its founder, Todd Hardy, bought a beehive at the tender age of 12 years old. After 48 years of bee-keeping and selling honey, Todd decided to try using raw honey in Spirits distillation. Based on a vision of creating quality Spirits and supporting local agriculture, Caledonia Spirits was born. After a few very successful years selling their Vodka and Gin, Todd handed the reins of the business over to the master distiller, Ryan Christiansen. But he didn't step down entirely; today, he stays true to the Caledonia Distillery's mission by running the farm that grows grains and fruit that goes into their products.
This neato gift pack contains 2 of their Gins as well as an enamel tumbler. The Barr Hill Gin (45% ABV) is proof that less is more with a simple, clean, and pure recipe where the juniper gets to shine. The kicker is adding a bit of their honey right after the juniper is distilled. The floral aromas and earthiness find their way into this excellent Gin from the land that surrounds them and has brought them Gold Medals at both the New York and Hong Kong International Spirits Competitions. Tom Cat Gin (43% ABV) is a newer creation that's made with the same recipe as the original Barr Hill Gin, which contains just 2 botanicals — juniper and honey. Except that this one then gets aged in new American oak barrels.
