Auchroisk 10 YO Flora and Fauna

The force of nature that blends in, but also stands out.

Human nature tends to discard the unknown, which is a paradox, really. Take Auchroisk 10YO for example. While you probably assume you have yet to try this Whisky, we are almost certain that most of you already have. We're not being presumptuous. It's just that this Spirit is a part of many famous blends, most notably J&B. And you've had one or two of those in college, haven’t you? We know, we know... college, but definitely not later.

Let’s escape the (dim) distant past for a sec and focus on the present. Because that’s exactly what this Whisky is — a gift! Semantics aside, there’s also the matter of pronunciation. Auchroisk? Othrusk. Just so... Official distillery bottlings have been sold under the name The Singleton up until the early 21th century, in large part to free potential consumers of any potential mispronunciation headaches.

A force of nature, its distinguished quality is due in no small part to the land and the spring on which the distillery was built back in 1974. Seeing as this is one of the youngest such establishments in Speyside, even the whole of Scotland, the range of products is small. Nowadays Auchroisk is owned by Diageo, who incorporated the 10 YO into its Flora & Fauna range, which promotes the company’s lesser known single malts. Good thing they did too because this dram doesn’t just blend in, it also stands out.

Like the distillery itself, the Whisky is young and fresh. On the one hand, it’s extremely approachable, making for an excellent dram for newcomers. On the other hand, its full flavour and depth make this a complex treat for experienced aficionados. Come to think of it, the right term for the duality of this dram isn’t paradox, it’s synergy.
