The foundational dram of the Knob Creek range — one of our favs and worth every cent.

Knob Creek is one of the special "small batch" brands of Beam-Suntory. Along with it’s sister labels — Booker’s, Baker’s, and Basil Hayden’s — it’s tailored to the more discriminating Bourbon-lover (and that means YOU). The Knob Creek brand was first launched in 1992, and since then they have changed it very little — remaining dedicated to reproducing a pre-Prohibition style Bourbon experience with a higher ABV that makes it a Bourbon-of-Choice for discriminating cocktail aficionados everywhere while winning awards and turning heads.

Knob Creek 9 year-old Small Batch Bourbon is the core, bedrock platform upon which the Knob Creek Empire of Awesomeness sits. It is both refined and unpretentious. It knows what it is and is happy with what it sees. It’s aged nine full years and bottled at a muscular 50% ABV.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again… we have a real soft-spot in our hearts for Knob Creek. Great value, great Whiskey, and our go-to Bourbon for making killer cocktails. End of story.

Ratings & Reviews
Craig
Craig,
Better than the 12 year imo

Gary
Gary,
As someone else wrote, knob creek 9 is a solid drink, with no apologies. It hits all the standard bourbon notes. But it is standard. There’s nothing special here. The 15 year has too much oak, and is way too pricey. Perhaps the 12?

Christopher
Christopher,
Notes of brown sugar, orange, floral and a load of vanilla and spice. Plenty of complexity and a finish that lasts

Mike
Mike,
For the value, can’t go wrong with Knob

Paul
Paul,
This is bourbon with no apologies. It has everything real bourbon should have, without the ridiculous price of more pretentious brands.

Brian
Brian,
Smooth overall profile. One of the better ones I have tried so far

Kevin
Kevin,
Solid, but not a rich and flavorful as others

Justin
Justin,
More viscous than other bourbons, which I like. Good "mouth feel" and a good amount of caramel.

Matt
Matt,
Great average whiskey for a decent price.

Darrin
Darrin,
I enjoyed the smoke flavor in this bourbon. I am a weekend drinker and enjoy my bourbon neat, so Knob Creek 9 year 100 proof is my weekly bourbon. I have a few top shelf (barrel proof) bourbons I enjoy on occasion.

Daniel
Daniel,
Lots of caramel and toffee notes that are profound since it's smooth!

Love the nose and the finish....nice, smokey bite that a fat cube evens out. Will get this one again!

Kristin
Kristin,
Good solid bourbon. Pretty easy to drink but not too special.

Greg
Greg,
Can’t really tell how it’s different from regular Knob Creek, not a bad bourbon but can’t really hang with the higher rated bourbons.

Michael
Michael,
A little harsh. Use for mahattans

Steve
Steve,
Good hang out bourbon, but has a strong flavor and an unrefined finish.

Brock

100 proof got me feeling good. Tastes great not as sweet as Elijah Craig.

Fantastic pour. Notes of caramel, vanilla, leather. Excellent value.

Bryce
Bryce,
This is the bottle that got me interested in bourbon. I always stock Knob Small Batch. Great everyday sipper. Great price on Flaviar too! If you haven't tried this in a blind taste test against other comparable or higher priced bourbons, try it. Love this bottle.

Rob

Nice smooth and great taste. Not as much going on as Old Forester, but it's just a great smooth taste that I can sip in all day.

Toffee and baking spices.

Jonathon
Jonathon,
I love Knob Creek for it's overall smoothness and finish. I don't get an overly big bite like some other bourbons. And for the price, definitely worth it!

Andrew
Andrew,
This has been my everyday for years. I like it with a splash of water as my palate has drifted sweeter for drinking neat, but definitely staying in the rotation.

Brian
Brian,
This is a nice everyday bourbon. Not as smooth as one might expect for a 9 year. Straightforward taste with no unusual notes.

guest
guest,
Great to sip

Burton
Burton,
Allow it to open in your glass and it will release a very nice aroma of candy-caramel-chocolate. Medium thick texture, which feels comfy in the mouth. Nose beats the palate, but welcome vanilla and caramel flavors. Generous finish. A definite buy.

James
James,
Taste like old dirty leather

James
James,
too harsh to drink neat. with water, becomes sweet. notes of bubblegum on the nose. best for mixing

Very smooth, nice sipper on a big square cube. VERY slight escabeche taste on the front of the palette.......rear finishes strong

This one was pretty strong. Enjoyed it, but also a bit too oily.

Clayton
Clayton,
This is one of the better bourbons I’ve had in the last couple of years. Has a sweet aroma and mixes very well with water or ginger ale for a sweeter drink. Will buy again

guest
guest,
Good but not great. There is an earthy aftertaste that I just cannot get with. Other than that it is probably a really great choice for a frequent sipper.

Aaron
Aaron,
Their regular flagship bourbon says Small Batch, 50%, and 9 yr...what is different about this for the extra $10?
