Hendricks Orbium Gin has been called “distinct and delicious,” and we agree.

Hendrick’s Gin was launched by William Grant & Sons in 1999. It’s produced at their Girvan Distillery in South Ayrshire, Scotland — built in 1963. Somewhat famously, the distillery was built in a hurry due to a quarrel between William Grant & Sons and a supplier — Distillers Company Limited (DCL). From ground break to production was a short nine months. They produce several Single Malt and blended Whiskies there, in addition to Hendrick’s Gins.

The most famous Gin cocktail in the world is probably the G&T — the Gin & Tonic. Aside from the popular flavor — one of the reasons that it is so famous is that “tonic” in tonic water is quinine. Created by master distiller Lesley Gracie in small, 500 liter batches, Hendricks Orbium Gin starts with their popular core Gin made with juniper (of course), cucumber, and Bulgarian rose. But this special Gin is “quininated.” This means that it has extracts of quinine already in the Gin — plus some special infusions of blue lotus blossom and wormwood. It’s almost a cocktail in itself, but to our taste, a bit of soda brings out the flavors quite nicely.

The aromas are floral with pine wood and lemon zest as the backdrop.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
The palate is full and balanced with fresh herbs, cocktail bitters, citrus oils, cucumber, and more florals.

Finish
The finish is deep and earthy with a healthy, long and grassy warmth.

Hendrick's...Nuff Said

While it's not my FAVORITE Hendrick's (which is Grand Cabaret right now), it's enjoyable nonetheless. Easy drinking, but a little more on the peppery side from your basic Hendrick's pour. I enjoyed mine with a squeeze of lime in a diet tonic, but most likely won't re-purchase this version.
