Tin Cup calls itself a “blend of two great American Whiskeys.” Basically this means that they acquire high-Rye distillate from MGP Indiana, and likely single malt surplus stock from Stranahan’s (their Colorado neighbor) and blend them.
Because this is another Colorado brand, they have named it Tin Cup, after the actual tin cups miners used to use back in the day. The entire operation is the creation of distilling hobbyist and entrepreneur, Jess Garber.
The flavor is nice right up front, getting the best of the Rye and the single malt. Caramel apple tickles the nose, and minerals, cherry pie, and Rye spice appear on the palate. Solid wood notes round out the finish.
