Lot 40 was launched — or we should say relaunched — in 2012. It first made an appearance as a special edition from a limited stock of existing barrels. But it was so well received that they rejiggered production, and it was brought back several years later.
The Whisky gets its name from the actual lot number for the farm of Joshua Booth — an ancestor of Hiram Walker and a politician and distiller in his own right.
This is definitely a high-rye spirit clocking in at 90% rye grain and 10% barley. It is distilled at the Hiram Walker distillery in Montreal and aged between seven and eight years. The product is produced and distributed though the Corby division of Pernod Ricard.
