Balcones started with an American single malt before branching out into specialty
Bourbon and
Whiskeys. Their first signature product was their unique B
lue Corn Bourbon, but they began with two
Texas single malts.
It is a
true single malt — in this age of outsourcing, Balcones single malt is mashed, fermented, and distilled
on site at Balcones. They also
do not chill filter or artificially color it.
The famous
Jim Murray, author of the "Whisky Bible," called it “A delicious malt that needs a lot of time and chewing.” It is also one of the most award-winning spirits — more than 60 of them.
It has strong
toffee notes and the flavor of
over-ripe pears followed by
clean malt, and a dash of
cinnamon.
