The Kraken Attacks California is a limited edition, collectable bottling of The Kraken Dark Spiced Rum as the monster performs its own stunts.

Proximo Spirits does a great job developing Spirits brands. Proximo was founded in 2007 by the Beckman family — owners of José Cuervo. Their portfolio now includes ten brands across a wide range of Spirits from Whiskey to Vodka, Gin, and Mezcal and back again. The Kraken Rum line of spiced Rums was introduced in 2010 and has seen exponential growth, especially in Australia where it has a dominant market position.

The Kraken Attacks California is part of a limited edition series built on the classic Kraken Black Spiced Rum that they’re famous for. The Spirit is molasses-based and distilled on the island of Trinidad at the southernmost point in the Caribbean Sea. It’s aged one to two years and infused with a secret mix of eleven tasty spices, including cinnamon, clove, and ginger.

They devised The Kraken Attacks series as a brilliant promotion to support local bars during the pandemic with free cocktails and by issuing a series of limited edition bottles to support the project. It also will help them get more penetration in the US market, so everybody wins (except the competition). For The Kraken Attacks California the label depicts the monster getting ready for its close-up, thrashing about the state capital building and movie sets.

Mount Gay Rum is the oldest existing Rum company in the World dating back to 1705. This is also the year Guy Fawkes tried to blow up Britain’s Parliament.
Rum is why we measure alcohol proof. To make sure Rum wasn’t watered down, it had to be ‘proven’ by soaking gunpowder with it. If it was ‘overproof’ (higher than 57.15 % vol.), then the gunpowder would ignite, but if it wouldn’t, it was ‘underproof.’
You might find Rum masquerading itself under other nom de plumes, like Ron, Rom and Rhum.
Rum is a sugar cane based spirit, primarily made in the Caribbean and Latin America, but you can really find Rum in many corners of the world.
Next time you have a tipple of Rum you can say that you're tapping the Admiral. This intriguing phrase comes from the great Admiral Nelson who was killed in the battle of Trafalgar off of Spain. The story is that his body was preserved in Rum to be shipped back to England but, when the barrel arrived, some of the Rum was missing and said to have been siphoned off by some desperate or unknowing sailors. It's a great story but most likely false.
If the center of our galaxy had a signature scent, it would be Rum. Yup, astronomers studying a giant cloud in the Milky Way found a substance called ethyl formate, a chemical that smells suspiciously like Rum.
