A perfectly delightful blend of fine Danish Single Malt, peated Single Malt, and malted Rye Whiskies.
Stauning sits on the West Coast of Denmark facing the North Sea. It is quiet farm community of rolling hills dotted with seated moors. But if you sailed a boat directly west from there you would sail directly into the Firth of Forth with Edinburgh on your left. When it comes to climate, Staining has more in common with the Highlands of Scotland that Copenhagen. And in 2005, this is where nine friends set up shop to learn the craft if making Whisky with two small pot stills in an old abandoned butchery surrounded by rolling hills of grain. What started as a hobby is now an acclaimed passion project with six core editions. They even malt their own grain. Welcome to Staining Danish Whisky.
The word “Kaos” in Danish means exactly what you think it does — “chaos.” But Stauning Kaos Danish Whisky is the opposite. It’s a carefully thought-out blend of their three core Whiskies — Single Malt, peated Single Malt, and malted Rye. Each of these fine drams on their own is a worthy treat. Together they give us the world’s first Scotch-like blend at a perfect 46% ABV.
Appearance / Color
Nose / Aroma / Smell
The aroma is complex with warming spices, toasted granola clusters, cocoa, maple, a hint of smoke, and distant florals.
Flavor / Taste / Palate
The mouth-feel is slick and full with flavor profile of warm molasses, more cocoa, apple chips, butter toffee, flamed orange zest, and warm toasted oak.
The finish is medium length, lightly spiced, and warm.
The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in Stauning Kaos Danish Whisky and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.
We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.
