Magic has been happening at the Woodford Reserve Distillery site for more than 235 years. And for the last 10 years, the distillery magicians have been putting out the highly sought-after Master's Collection, an outstanding series of limited-edition expressions.
Woodford Reserve Master's Collection 1838 Style White Corn Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is their 10th release and for this one, they've taken a page straight out of crop history. Inspired by the work of master distiller James Crow and distilling pioneer Oscar Pepper, who were making Whiskey on the Woodford Reserve site back in the early 1800s, the juice features a mashbill of local white corn—back then a more readily-available crop than the now popular yellow maize.
This single alteration results in a Bourbon that is lighter and smoother, with a more fruit-forward flavor profile that will leave you looking forward to your next sip. Bottled in a container that evokes comparisons to a copper pot still, this a really beautiful addition to any bar collection.
